Our Favorite Solutions Sure to Cure Your Egg White Boredom!

If you are eating clean and strict it is inevitable that you come to a point in your life where you will be tired of eating egg whites for breakfast… AND THAT’S OKAY! A huge part of being able to stay consistent long-term is learning how to prepare food in a variety of ways so you don’t get bored and tempted to cheat! This can be intimidating to folks who don’t cook much or are not creative in the kitchen but the good news is that I have done the hard work for you!! Over the past few years I have been compiling a database of recipes that JT and eat on a regular basis and perfected them so we can share them with you! Since we have had countless conversations surrounding the statement “I’m tired of Egg Whites”; we decided to make a public announcement with our response!

Here are our favorite solutions to cure your egg white boredom!

  1. Try adding a few slices of lean meat. I prefer honey roasted or smoked turkey and JT likes to use leftover rotisserie chicken. Cut the meat into smaller pieces and add it in the skillet at the very end when the egg whites are almost finished cooking. It changes the entire flavor of plain egg whites!

  2. Add spinach and Swiss cheese!! This is such an excellent combination. I sauté the spinach in olive oil for a few minutes and then add the egg whites and cheese closer to the end. I am not a huge spinach fan but it goes so well in this dish! I also like this served with a side of salsa.

  3. Add in some turkey bacon and low fat cheddar cheese. I like to overcook my turkey bacon so I can make bacon bits out of it. Then sprinkle in bacon bits and cheddar cheese at the end of cooking.

  4. Many days my egg whites are much more tolerable if my complex carb in the morning is tasty or interesting. We like Ezekiel bread with peanut butter. I also have two great recipes on the blog: blueberry protein muffins and double chocolate protein muffins, which I eat daily as my complex carb.

  5. Skip the egg whites! If spicing up your egg whites doesn’t sound satisfying then skip the egg whites! You may have any lean meat, cottage cheese or Greek Yogurt (watch the sugar content in Greek Yogurt). There are also options for making cottage cheese and Greek Yogurt more enjoyable by adding sugar free jelly or splenda to flavor and sweeten.

  6. Eat Pancakes! I have several protein powder based pancake recipes on the blog that are delicious and carb free! Pumpkin pancakes, classic pancakes, sweet potato pancakes and even crepes! Just be sure to have some sugar free syrup, sugar free jelly or Greek yogurt for toppings!

  7. Experiment with overnight oatmeal / protein parfaits! I have one recipe up on the blog and am going to be experimenting and posting several more soon.

  8. Like our Facebook page and check the blog often! I am working on a baked egg/ quiche recipe that should be up in the next week!

I hope that this helps and spices up your breakfast routine and helps to keep you on point! As always please feel free to share!!
