It's All In Your Head!
As some of you know JT and I are training Team Evolve for the Spartan Trifecta this year. Our training and the races require A LOT more running than we are used to. Today as I was preparing for our "long run" of the week I had a really good conversation with JT. I was talking about how some days I "get in my zone" and I can run 6 miles but other days I struggle so hard to make it through a mile. Mentally I was psyching myself out - nervous that today could be of those inevitably hard days. JT looked at me and told me that my body does not change from one day to the next. I am no less physically capable today than I am on a day where I feel like I can run forever. The only difference is what's in my head - it's my energy level, it's my mood and what I say to myself before and during my run. Something about that "clicked" and I changed the way I was thinking, buckled down and ended up having one of the best runs yet! It's all mental... set your mind to it and prepare to crush your goals!
