Just before Christmas of 2015 I had a normal Dr's visit to have some prescriptions refilled and go over some normal blood work. Upon the departure of my visit my Doctor advised me that soon I was going to become a statistic and had a very high probability of having a heart attack at a young age.
Being 40 years old and fighting my weight for over 20 years. I've tried several diets and have never stayed on them for more than a few weeks at a time. In the mean time I developed Type 2 diabetes, high blood pressure and high cholesterol and taking medication for all of them. I was always full of excuses of why I couldn't eat right or work out. At the end of the doctors visit I was advised that I would need to convert from pills to insulin to control my blood sugar levels. I ask my doctor for 6 months to make a change on my own and then I would start the insulin if I did not do my part. His exact statement was "Deal!!! If you don't do your part I will do mine!!!"
When I left I had know idea of what I was going to do. One day a friend advised me that there was this new guy that came to Panama city and was the real deal. I immediately began to research and try to find this guy. Low and behold I found him and the best part was he worked at the same Doctor's office that I had just left!
I thought about it a few days and decided to call and make an appointment. All the time before the appointment I was very apprehensive about the appointment. Several thoughts went through my mind. Things like "I don't need any help" "I'm a man, how would people look at me if they knew I was seeing a nutritionist? " "This guy couldn't be any different than all the rest of the articles I read all my life?"
I tried to back out a couple times and my wife told me I should go and she would go with me if I went. The first visit was as normal as any other doctors visit as he ask me what my long term goals were and what I wanted to achieve? He advised me write down everything I would eat and drink for 1 week and bring it back to him for his review. When I left he gave me his cell phone number and told me to call or text at any hour if I had any questions. Now what doctor gives you thier cell number?? Again I was apprehensive about the visit, but one thing stuck in my mind when he stated "This is not s diet, it has to be a lifestyle change!! If you can't do that you might as well leave!" When I got home that night I sat and watched my kids play and made my mind up that I would do this for them.
The next week I visited him again with my journal in hand along my side was my wife. After I left that visit I was fired up and did realize this guy knows his stuff all though he told me some things I never could have imagined would have worked! He ask me to trust him and he would help me reach my goals. The meal plan arrived and I couldn't believe the amount of food he allowed me to eat. I thought to myself, there is no way I will lose any weight!! I trusted JT with everything and really had nothing to lose at this point. With the direction and motivation of JT, 100% support and help from my wife, I have now been on my personal plan and life style change for a total of 10 weeks and have lost over 31 inches and over 30 lbs, ran a 5k with my daughter and look forward to working out. Within 6 weeks I was taken off all my medication that I have taken for over 10 years and I have so much more energy!! I now have made it a priority and habit to continue this lifestyle change for the rest of my life.
Since my journey started with JT, I have inspired several family members and friends to go see JT and they have been very satisfied with their results. I have a hard time trusting anyone, but I can tell you from experience, if JT says it will work, it will!! I give all the credit MR. JT THOMPSON for truly caring and loving what he does for a living!! Thank you JT for extra years I will have to enjoy with my family and friends.
